PDO-GOG Corrective Threads

PDO-GOG Corrective Threads

PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are very thin medical threads used in various medical and aesthetic applications, mainly for skin lifting and tightening. They are made from a biocompatible material (Polydioxanol) which is bioabsorbable over time by the body and do not require removal.

Thread Placement
Before thread placement, we apply local anesthesia to minimize any discomfort that may occur.
The threads are installed using small needles and they create a tissue reconstruction through mechanical tension and activation of collagen production. The use of threads leads to the improvement of skin elasticity, resulting in a younger and renewed appearance. The thread installation procedure is non-invasive.

Thread Results
Although the results are visible immediately, the complete reconstruction of the skin improves day by day, but it usually takes a few weeks to achieve.

Complications
There are no complications in PDO thread placement. However, there may be mild irritation locally.

Application Points

  • Forehead

  • Eyes (Crow’s feet)

  • Zygomatics

  • Nasolabial folds

  • Facial oval

  • Neck (Improving saggy neck)

  • Turkey neck

Results

  • Collagen & elastin activation

  • Firming/rejuvenation

Duration of Results
Up to 12 months

Duration of Results/Absorption
PDO threads are absorbed by the body after some time (usually 6-12 months) and re-examination is recommended for placement of additional threads to maintain the result (18-14 months).

Cog Threads
Cog threads are thicker than PDO threads and have small spikes on their surface, which act as “hooks” that help to lift and tighten the skin much more effectively.

Placement
Their placement is performed with small needles, under local anesthesia, to minimize any discomfort. The thread spikes are attached to the skin and create a lift in the area where they are applied. After placement, the body reacts by producing collagen around the thread, providing improvement of skin texture and long-term tightening.

Thread Results
Although the results are visible immediately, the complete reconstruction of the skin improves day by day, but it usually takes a few weeks to achieve.

Complications
There are no complications in the placement of cog threads because it is generally a safe and non-invasive procedure. In some cases, there may be:

  • First weeks:

    • Swelling & bruising – A normal reaction that will fade away in a few days

    • Asymmetrical angle – Due to local swelling

    • Sensitivity & pain – Usually a mild discomfort that lasts for a few days

  • Weeks – Months:

    • Visible or easy-to-feel threads – Until the lifting process begins

    • Local swelling or hard-felt points – From excessive fibrosis around the threads which will subside

Application Points

  • Forehead

  • Zygomatics

  • Nasolabial folds

  • Facial oval

  • Neck

  • Turkey neck

Results

  • Firming

  • Collagen activation

  • Improvement of skin texture

Duration of Results/Absorption
The duration of the results from cog threads can vary depending on several factors such as:

  1. Skin condition

  2. Existing skin looseness

  3. Age

(Usually 6 months – 2 years)

It is important to know that the cog thread procedure is not permanent, and the improvements it offers will decrease over time as the skin continues the natural aging process.

Instructions After Application
On the day of treatment, all activities that may cause excessive inflammation are prohibited:

  1. Sauna

  2. Alcohol

  3. Hot bath/shower

  • Makeup is prohibited for 48 hours.

  • Application of antibiotic cream (Bactroban) with clean hands for 48 hours.

  • Exercise and intense activities are not allowed for 24 hours.

  • Restriction of abrupt facial movement.

  • Ice for 20 minutes after application.
